Celebration of the Centenary of Finland

Thursday 26th January 2017, times TBC, The London Library

Marking the start of Finland’s centenary celebrations in Britain and a gift of around 100 Finnish books which will augment the Library’s collection of literature in this area, the evening will include a talk by Henrik Meinander from the University of Helsinki, in the presence of the Finnish Ambassador to Great Britain.

Tour of the Royal Institution Archives

Thursday 9th February 2017, 6.30pm – 8pm

A private tour of the Royal Institution’s archive, a treasure trove of material illustrating some of the major scientific discoveries throughout history, led by Library member Professor Frank James (Ri Head of Collections) and Professor Roger Kneebone, renowned surgeon and professor.

Thackeray and Dickens-level supporters: Private Collection Visit with the Rt Hon the Lord Browne of Madingley

Tuesday 21st March, 6.30pm – 8pm

We are very privileged to invite members of the Founders’ Circle to visit the library of the Lord Browne of Madingley, a room which he has termed “full of stuff – a room of wonders”. We will view his collection of rare books, prints and engravings which includes Venetian works from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century.

In Conversation with Sir Tim Rice
