International Friends of The London Library
For over 40 years the International Friends of The London Library has been a vital supporter of The London Library, the world’s largest independent lending library since 1841, to help it continue as a haven of creativity and inspiration for writers, readers and thinkers.
Through the International Friends of The London Library (IFLL), donors from across North America are essential to helping The London Library develop its unrivalled collection of around one million volumes on open access shelves, beautiful reading spaces, outstanding online resources, as well as its archive, writers’ support and learning programs.
Our International Friends enjoy a close connection to The London Library and its people through invitations to special literary events in the US and UK, inside track information and communication. Find out more about how you can support the International Friends on our Support Us page.

Support the Library
The Library is known for the outstanding service it offers members. However membership fees alone are not enough to cover running costs for the Library’s services and collection, so philanthropic support is crucial to keep the Library operating.

Events
We host a special programme of events in the United States for our US-based Patrons and supporters and would love you to join us at these and events in the UK.
“It’s great to feel so involved with The London Library as a US Founders’ Circle patron, despite being across the Atlantic – the membership, events and updates make me feel like it could be just around the corner”
— Mayme Hackett, Founders’ Circle patron
